The process
From dream to plan.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to order a painting for your living room, your garage of your hallway. Or maybe you want to surprise your love or a friend or family member. Whatever it is, I love to hear your wishes and see how I can create a specific artwork especially for you. In this information gathering phase we can discuss the ideas and options regarding materials, sizes and details. If you have a specific photo that you like to be painted I can do some proposals on sizes. If you don’t have a specific photo but a set of picture of your car, your bike or a landscape or animal you like to be painted I can make some sketches to show you the options. In addition we can discuss if the painting should have a background, if personal details can be included or if you have specific strong ideas on colors. In the end we come to an agreement on the artwork, a price and an indication of the delivery date. We can also make agreements on publishing and/or sharing the work in progress videos and photos I make during the painting process.
Paint.
Based on the agreed wishes and requirements I order the materials and start the painting by drawing the subject with grey pencil. After the drawing I start painting the darkest tones and then working up the colors in several layers. The painting normally is completed by adding the smallest details and the white highlights. Quite often I make work-in-progress videos and/or photos and I appreciated I can share the progress of the work with you and/or my social media/website.
Deliver.
When the painting is done I varnish it with shiny acrylic varnish to protect the paint, intensify the colors and enable you to clean it. If you live in the Netherlands you are welcome to come to visit me to pick up the painting or I might be able to bring it up. If needed I can also send it to you.
If you live abroad I will pack the painting in plastic and a hard material to make sure it stays in perfect state when it arrives at your place.
